Amritsar is a city in the Indian state of Punjab. It is a holy city for Sikhs and Hindus. The city has many tourist attractions like Jallianwala Bagh, Wagah Border, Fort Gobindgarh, and Sri Harmandir Sahib. Fort Gobindgarh is a historical place in Amritsar . It was built by Maharaja Ranjit Singh in 1805 and is situated on the foothills of the Shivalik range near Amritsar (heart of the city). The fort was named after his son, Gobind Singh. It is also known as "Ranjit Garh" or "Ranjit ki Garhi".  It is one of the largest forts in India. It was originally a mud fort but now it has been converted into a beautiful palace with sprawling lawns and gardens. The construction of this fort took place during 1760-to 1764 AD and it is believed that more than 10,000 people were involved in its construction.
